About Us - History
Michigan's farmland and natural areas are being consumed by development at an alarming rate and without much consideration for the impact on quality of life or the environment.
Since 1994 GLBLC has been assisting landowners, who do not want their property subdividied or developed, by advising them of alternatives. Conservation easements and purchase (or donation) of development rights are just two ways property can be permanenlty protected.
GLBLC, 501(c)3 organization, has formed partnerships with such organizations as Citizens for Farmland Preservation and Quality Growth, Michigan Environmental Council, Oakland Land Conservancy, Land Trust Alliance, Flint River Watershed Coalition, Lapeer Conservation District, and Lapeer County Ag. Preservation Board in an effort to bring land preservation issues to the attention of the landowners, land use professionals, government officials and the general public.
